Drug and alcohol detox centers

Drug and Alcohol detox centers are where alcoholics and drug addicts go to get off their drugs and alcohol.

Once you’ve made up your mind to dry out and get clean, you need to spend time in a Detox Center where doctors, nurses and other medical professionals help you get through your withdrawal.

This supervised withdrawal is not pleasant, but it is necessary to clear your body of all toxic substances… drugs, alcohol and other impurities.

During this time you’ll be counselled by trained professionals such as drug and alcohol counsellors, doctors and other trained therapists.

You can expect to be kept within the four walls of the detox center. This is to make sure you can’t ‘bust’ by getting out and scoring some drink or drugs while you’re getting clean.

I know of one center which would throw you out if you ‘busted’ and scored something from outside. A good friend of mine used to work there, and I used to visit him at work when I was in the neighborhood.

Another friend who has gotten sober used to attend AA meetings at the same facility. I don’t know what the rules for all drug and alcohol detox centers, but I expect they’ll be similar when you find one.
